What is RC ? |
| RC is short for Radio Control. Our products are designed to work with any modern, proportional RC system. A 2 channel radio costs about $50. You must use one intended for ground use (model car), not aircraft use. The ground band is 75 MHz (ch61-90). IT IS ILLEGAL TO USE AIRCRAFT FREQ. FOR GROUND APPLICATION. A good source for RC gear is towerhobbies.com. We suggest the Futaba 6YG, 6 channel system (search for FUTJ63), cost is about $170. RC receivers normally control servos, which come in different sizes; and are used to move control surfaces, steering linkages, and position mechanical parts. Proportional means that the servo "follows" the control stick on the transmitter. For steering robots, look at 1/4 scale airplane servos, they have plenty of power. |

What is the RC switch ? |
| It is an adapter that plugs into any servo channel of a RC receiver. The control stick for that channel is then used to activate 2 relays. Each relay has a common, normally open, and normally closed terminal. You connect the relay contact to your AC or DC load to turn it on and off. There are 2 modes: pulse, and latch. Pulse operation will turn on one relay when the stick is moved one way, and turn on the other relay when the stick is moved the opposite way. With the stick at rest in the center, both are off. Latch mode turns on BOTH relays when the stick is moved up. They stay on even when the stick is released. To turn them BOTH off, move the stick momentarily down. This "ganged" operation of the relays is useful for on/off control of loads, the contacts can be paralleled to double the ratings. Also, ganging the relays provides a DPDT switch which can be used for motor reversing. |

What is the OUT2 board for ? |
| It is the RC switch, without the relays. Instead, dual 30V, 5A open drain FET outputs are provided. When an output is activated, it provides a "pulldown" to ground. The other side of the load goes to your DC supply of up to 30V. Inductive loads such as motors and relay coils require a diode across them, band goes to V+. |

Do I need the DC supply ? |
| Not if you have your own source for 5VDC, required to operate the RC receiver and our boards. Our DC supply offers a convenient, reliable method of powering the control system. It requires 9-38 VDC in, and outputs 5V, 1.5A max. Both the input and output are fused and clamped, protecting the supply from overvoltage, and protecting your electronics being powered from being damaged, in the case of failure. This is a 650 KHz switcher, with an efficiency of 85%. |
